Gram Sabha / Ward Sabha
The Gram Sabha is a people's forum comprising all individuals whose names appear on the electoral roll of a specific constituency (ward) within a Gram Panchayat. A similar system known as the 'Ward Sabha' exists in municipalities and corporations.
Key Responsibilities
. Discuss the development needs of the area.
Discuss and review matters concerning beneficiaries of various government schemes.
Raise issues regarding roads, drinking water, waste management, streetlights, etc., in the ward.
Offer opinions on the plans and budget of the Panchayat or local self-government institution.
Monitor the progress and quality of implemented development activities.
Check whether eligible individuals are receiving welfare scheme benefits.
Propose solutions to local issues.
In short, the Grama Sabha or Ward Sabha is a platform where people directly participate in local governance.
