Administrative History
The Andoorkonam Grama Panchayat was formed by combining the Pallippuram village and a portion of the Andoorkonam village. With a landscape comprising small hills and plains, the panchayat area shines as a microcosm of Kerala. The panchayat is home to numerous ponds, streams, and backwater-side areas. The Andoorkonam Panchayat was established in 1953. Andoorkonam is a ward located at the eastern end of this panchayat. Although the Andoorkonam Panchayat area is primarily agricultural, it also possesses an industrial base. Industrial raw materials such as coconuts, husks, shells, coir pith, Indian clay, and various types of fruits are abundantly available here. Since the beginning of this century, the region has been home to numerous traditional cottage industries.
